“I got the job! I start tomorrow, but I need black boots with no skid soles and black pants.”
Getting a job isn’t uncommon for our guests. However, the difficulty of maintaining a job while living outside is another story. Having the required attire for the new job is also not easy.
It takes a lot of courage and perseverance to acquire employment when you don’t even have a place to sleep. It can be a tedious process: countless applications, various appointments requiring transportation arrangements, and the need for a presentable appearance. All of these tasks require extra effort when you are living on the street.
Imagine if there were no Father’s Heart to come to for services. How would you begin looking for work without access to computers, showers clean clothing and food? Meeting immediate needs helps people take their focus off of those necessities and look for employment.
Today, we were able to witness and celebrate with one of our guests as he secured a job. Our response to this gentleman who needed the shoes and pants, “You tell us if these shoes and black pants fit. If not, we will do we will do everything in our power to get you what you need for your job!”
Because of your support, we had the correct size for his required black boots and black pants.
